What can be tested during a protective coating report?


The blast profile is the amount of rust and other contamination which is included on the surface of the material. You will ideally want the surface to be un-blasted because this means that there is no identifiable rust or contaminants on the surface of the coating. This grading means that no work will be needed to be carried out at all.

The blast profile can be divided into several other sections. There are four classes of blast degree, and there are four grades of rust. The higher the blast case, the more mildew and other contaminants are present on the coating. The higher the rust grade, the more rust is present on the surface.

After the blast profile test has been completed, work can begin to make sure that all the rust and mildew is removed. You will then be able to opt for full protective coatings once the rust and mildew have been successfully removed.


The dry film thickness test is the next procedure that can be carried out by our company. This checks the thickness of the protective layer which has already been applied to the building, machinery or vehicle. Then you will be able to know whether a new protective coating should be applied.

This is important, because if the layer is too thin then you might not be getting the intended level of protection that is required. Corrosive chemicals and the elements could be causing a lot of damage over a short space of time.

Once the thickness has been increased, you will find that your machinery, vehicles and buildings become a lot more robust and they will resist chemicals and weather conditions much more effectively than they ever did before.


The adhesion test determines how well paint or a protective coating is sticking to the surface on which it has been applied. If the paint or protective coating has a low adhesion rating, then it will be time to have better paint or protective coating applied.
